Karimnagar: Congress MP Poonam Prabhakar said that the state may witness serious situations after August 1 in the event of Centre failed to take any decision on the Telangana state issue.

Talking to media persons on Wednesday, Poonam Prabhakar called upon all Telangana leaders to make united and concrete efforts towards the formation of state by keeping aside their party agenda and flags.

He said that the Telangana elected representatives who submitted their resignations should make efforts for acceptance of their resignations by the Assembly Speaker and mount pressure on the Centre by creating constitutional crisis.

He demanded the centre either to accept the resignations of elected representatives or announce the formation of separate Telangana state on immediate basis.

He demanded resigned legislators and ministers not to participate in any official programmes of the government.

Their participation in the official programmes would send a wrong message and dampen the spirit of agitation, he pointed out.

Recalling the statement of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the Dec 9 statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram was made in `haste’ to prevent deteriorating health of Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was on fast unto death in 2009, he asked what the Minister was doing without rectifying his statement. Does it need two years for rectifying his statement, he questioned.

Stating that the Congress would bite dust in the Telangana region if it failed to announce separate state, he demanded Centre to stand by to Dec 9 statement of Chidambaram and respect the aspirations of people of the region. (INN)
