Warangal: Pro-Telangana activists on Tuesday demonstrated that even a solemn occasion like a funeral is not out of bounds for raising the separate statehood demand by obstructing Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah as he was on his way to the residence of Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar to pay his respects to the departed soul.
Professor Jayashankar died of throat cancer earlier in the day.
The Telangana activists, raising ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans, attempted to attack the Information Technology Minister.
However, the police intervened and pacified the activists.
Under tight police cover, the Minister placed a wreath on Prof Jayashankar’s body and left the place.
Earlier, students of Kakatiya University Joint Action committee hurled chappals and stones on the convoy of MP Rajaiah when he came to pay his respects to departed Telangana ideologue Prof Jayashankar.
However, the police intervened and pacified the students. Later the MP paid his floral tributes to Prof Jayashankar.(INN)
