Vijayawada: The Opposition parties here on Friday organized protest against hike in the buses fares. The Telugu Desam and Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers staged a dharna at Pandit Nehru Bus Station here on Friday.

The TDP Krishna district president, Mr Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, and the CPM leader, Mr Babu Rao, took part in the protest. They criticized the government for hiking bus charges and causing more burden to the overburdened common people.

Alleging that the ruling Congress party has provoked regional clashes, the leaders lambasted the government for imposing additional burden indirectly. They also threatened to launch agitation if the State government failed to roll back bus fares.
