Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam party president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that his party was founded on the basis of great ideals to serve the have-nots and bringing about development on all fronts and not for gaining power.
Addressing party activists at his residence here on Sunday, Mr Naidu said that there would be no changes in the party’s ideology. However, he was not averse to effect changes in the party ideology in conformity with the changing times and requirements.
He called upon all the party units to celebrate Party Formation Day on March 29 on a grand scale as it completed 29 years and entered the 30th year of its existence. He also asked the party men to generate public opinion in favour of the party by creating awareness on the party’s policies, the development it achieved and also the fights it was undertaking on people’s problems. He said that there was need for the party men to rededicate themselves for the service of the people on the occasion. He called upon party men to work for strengthening the party so that it re-attained its past glory.
Stating that the Backward Classes were the backbone of the party, the TDP supremo strongly felt that “Cash Transfer” scheme would be highly beneficial to the common man. He said that the party founder late N T Rama Rao wanted the educated to plunge into politics in order to bring about healthy changes in the country and the party would continue to adhere to his theory. He also pointed out that the NTR government had done away with the obsolete Patel and Patwari system in the State and paved the way for the dawn of real independence.
Though new parties have mushroomed in the country for the sake of gaining power and pelf, none of them could survive long he said instancing the Praja Rajyam party of former megastar K Chiranjeevi. He also pointed out that the 125-year-old Congress party has turned into a regional party due to the initiatives taken by the Telugu Desam party. The TDP has the unique distinction of bringing all the anti-Congress parties on a single platform to provide an alternative to the Congress party, he added. (NSS)
