Hyderabad: AP TRANSCO/APCPDCL has said in a press release here today that at 10:20 pm on May 27, there was power supply interruption caused due to damage of 132kV Underground Cable by Hyderabad Metro Board while laying Water Pipeline emanating from 220kV Moulali Substation feeding 132kV Chilkalguda Substation.

Consequent to this, power supply to the following 33kV Substations was affected: Indirapark, Chilkalguda, Pattigadda, Seethaphalmandi, Bansalipet, Narayanaguda, Clock Tower, Hyderguda.

The above 132kV Underground Cable was damaged by HMWSSB while laying Water Pipeline on the main road near 33/11kV Lalaguda Subsation. The 132kV Substation Chilkalguda is catering the requirement of the above 33/11kV Substations to a tune of 70MW. Due to the above outage, alternate power supply arrangement is made from 132kV Gun Rock Substation and 132kV Imlibun Substation to the above mentioned 33/11kV Substations. Due to constraint on feeding the entire load of 80MW from other 132kV Substations, it has become necessary to impose load reliefs on 11kV feeders from the above mentioned 33/11kV Substations.

The rectification activity is taken up by APTRANSCO on war footing. Special jointers are being flown from Ahmedabad. The power supply interruption schedule on need basis will be imposed in the areas under above Substations till normalcy is restored.

However, APTRANSCO / CPDCL has a contingency plan to minimize the load reliefs to the consumers by making alternate arrangements by extending supply from 132kV/33kV substations.

APTRANSCO/APCPDCL regretted the inconvenience to the city consumers caused due to the breakdown and requests all the consumers affected to co-operate to facilitate restoration of normalcy at the earliest.(NSS)
