Triangular contest on the cards in YSR turf

Hyderabad: Battlelines are drawn for the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly seats, with political parties finalising their candidates.

The TDP’s man for Kadapa Lok Sabha will be Rajya Sabha member MV Mysoora Reddy, who is originally from the Congress stock and who never had good relations with the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. For Pulivendula Assembly seat, it is youngster B Tech Ravi who will be taking on YSR’s widow Vijayamma on the TDP ticket.

As far as the Congress is concerned, it is YSR’s brother and Agriculture Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy who would be up against sister-in-law Vijayamma in Pulivendula. For Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, it would be Kandula Rajamohan Reddy, who is from the TDP stock.

Rajamohan Reddy and his brother Sivananda Reddy fell out with party chief Chandrababu Naidu and are migrating to the Congress camp. Though their “defection” has not been announced officially, sources said it would take place on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The reason for the Congress cosying up to Rajamohan is that he has a record of giving a scare to YSR. In 1996 elections, YSR defeated him by just 5,000 votes. Express Buzz
