Hyderabad: The battle among the Satyasai Central Trust members on the issue of successor of Satya Sai Baba to control the Rs 40,000 crore fund was reported to have further intensified with the deterioration of the health condition of the Godman. The Trust members, however, denied any such differences.

The son of Satya Sai Baba’s brother, Mr R J Ratnakar and his beloved caregiver, Mr Satyajith were in lead in the race for the post. The Central Trust members were holding closed door meetings to come to a decision on the matter.

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is run by five trustees, comprising Sathya Sai Baba (founder trustee), former Chief Justice of India Justice P N Bhagawati, Mumbai-based chartered accountant Indulal Shah, former Central Vigilance Commissioner S V Giri, former National President of Confederation of Indian Industries V Srinivasan and Rathnakar. Ratnakar (39) controls the cable TV transmission in Puttaparthi and is also is dealer of a Hindustan Petroleum petrol pump in Puttaparthi. The minus point of Mr satyajith was that he was facing allegation that he was responsible for the present health condition of Baba. The positive point of Ratnakar was that he had old links with the Congress party. His father and brother of Satya Sai Baba , Janakiram had worked as Ananthapuram DCC Vice President from 1989 to 2000.

The trust, which is believed to have thousands of crores in funds, runs hospitals, educational institutions and drinking water supply schemes and undertakes various social service and charitable activities in 180 countries.

As the satya sai Central Trust was a matter of thousand of crores of rupees, the State Government has kept an eagle’s eye on the developments in Puttaparthi and getting reports from intelligence from time to time. Puttaparthi was also literally under the control of the police.

According to the sources, Satya Sai Central Trust member and former Chief Justice of India Justice P N Bhagawati has already met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and explained the situation prevailing in Puttaparti and the health condition of the God-man. The Central Government was also getting reports from its intelligence wing on the developments in Prashatnthi Nilayam.

On the other hand, rumors were making rounds that Satya Sai Baba has already got auspicious “Sajeeva Samadhi” on the lines of God-men in the history.(NSS)
