Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Village Servants Association president, Mr N. Peddanna, on Sunday announced that they have called off their 17-day old strike as the State government has conceded their demands.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Peddanna said that they met the Chief Minister’s Special Secretary, Mr J. Sathyanaraya, under leadership of the CPI (M) floor leader, Mr Julakanti Ranga Reddy at the Secretariat. He said that the Special Secretary assured them that the government would enhance DA from Rs 50 to Rs 100 to the village servants soon. He said that a written agreement would be initialed by the State government and the Union leaders.
The Association general secretary, Mr Vanguru Ramulu, said that they had served strike notice to the State government on April 16 to concede their demands and launched strike from May 20.
The Association vice-president, Mr Paladugu Bhaskar, the Co-president, Mr M. Anjaiah were also present.
