Warangal, Feb.10 (NSS): TRS MLA Warangal Mr. Vinay Bhaskar has staged a dharna at the collectorate, demanding that he be permitted at the ‘Racha Banda’ programme. He said he would simply submit a memorandum, and still the police had not allowed him.
The MLA was arrested and taken to the Hanamkonda police station. Talking to the media there, he said no one in the Telangana region wanted ‘Racha Banda’ and still the government was holding it against the will of the people. He said he had submitted a memorandum earlier to the district in charge minister Ms. D K Aruna asking her not to hold ‘Racha Banda’ here. Still, he has alleged that the Chief Minister Mr. N. Kirankumar Reddy had called her and made her organize the programme here. He said he was arrested while going to submit a memorandum to the minister and questioned how ordinary people could get justice in this government when MLAs like him had no safety.
Police, however, told the media that they had no vindictive attitude against any one and asserted that the MLA was arrested only as a precautionary measure. He said the matter was informed to the district SP and the assembly deputy speaker Mr. Nadendla Manohar.
Mr Vinaya Bhaskar was placed under house arrest as police suspected he would disrupt the Chief Minister’s programme here. The MLA had however escaped from the police security ring and reached the collectorate where he has staged a dharna. Tension prevailed when students laid a siege to the collectorate, supporting the MLA. (NSS)
