Visakhapatnam: The INTUC national president, Mr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, has alleged that the Union government was trying to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant which has been achieving amazing development.
Talking to the media here, Mr Reddy said the plant should be provided with government’s mines for strengthening it financially. He has suggested that the steel plant should be merged with the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) to make it financially more viable.
The senior trade unionist said the INTUC has put before the Central government demands that would benefit 45 crores of workers. He said INTUC would hold discussions on these demands with the Centre after Parliament sessions. He also has warned that all trade unions including those of the Railways would undertake a national strike if the government did not respond positively on these demands. (NSS)
