Guntur: The Congress MP from Guntur, Mr Rayapati Sambasiva Rao here on Sunday declared that he would abide by any decision of the party high command on the issue of State bifurcation, but personally favoured united Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to mediapersons, Mr Sambasiva Rao said that there was possibility of the Congress high command taking a decision on State bifurcation issue in May or June this year. As some States will be going to polls, there was no chance of the party high command applying its mind on the bifurcation issue and take a decision immediately, he added.
Reiterating that the Seemandhra leaders were committed to united State, Mr Rayapati felt that the Congress MPs from Telangana were united over separate Telangana State and were exerting pressure on the party high command in various forms. He said that the Congress party State affairs incharge, Mr Gulam Nabi Azad, has convened a meeting of all the MPs of the State on March 25 and 26 in order to see that the rift between the Telangana and Seemandhra MPs did not widen on the issue of bifurcation of the State. He felt that this meeting under the leadership of Mr Azad will be very crucial and they would abide by the decision of the party. (NSS)
