Kadapa: The TDP appears to be thinking of fielding senior leader of the district and Rajya Sabha member in Kadapa against Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the ensuing by-election.
It is learnt that the TDP was confident of winning the Kadapa by-elections as it would be benefited by the split in the Congress vote between that party and the YSR Congress of Jagan Mohan Reddy. The party feels that if it fields a strong candidate, it would certainly win the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. For the Pulivendula Assembly seat, the party is believed to have finalized the candidature of B.Tech Ravi.
Mr Mysoora Reddy is a native of Kadapa district and was a staunch supporter of late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. However, he differed with his mentor and joined the TDP later. Now it is said that there was an overwhelming opinion in the TDP that Mr Mysoora Reddy would be the right candidate for challenging Mr Jagan in Kadapa. It is, however, said that the names of Mr Kandula Raja Mohana Reddy and Mr Rama Subba Reddy were also considered. The party is likely to announce its candidates by April 5.
The TDP chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has discussed about the by-elections with leaders of his party from Kadapa on Thursday. Later, he left for Singapore along with his wife.
The TDP is trying to use the irregularities committed during the YSR rule and the amassment of properties by Mr Jagan during its poll campaigning against the Congress and YSR Congress. The party is believed to be thinking of appointing an MLA as in-charge of each mandal in the constituencies. (NSS)
