Hyderabad: The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress Party has on Monday requested the Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Banwarlal to constitute shadow teams to keep an eye on the movements and activities of the ministers who were deployed by the Chief Minister as election in-charges to Kadapa Parliament and Pulivendula assembly constituencies.

A delegation of the YSR Congress party led by its leader Mr. Gattu Ramachandar Rao met the Chief Electoral Officer in his chamber, Secretariat here and presented him a memorandum in this regard.

Responding to concerns expressed by them on the security of the YSR Congress Pulivendula Assenbly segment candidate Mrs. Vijayamma and her family members, the CEO has assured them that he would talk to the District Collector on the matter.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr Gattu Ramachandar Rao has said that the Chief Minister Mr. N. Kirankumar Reddy was bent on winning these elections by hook or crook and pointed that he had appointed seven cabinet members as in-charges. He has alleged that the Congress party which was in power at the centre and in the state was conspiring to destabilize newly constituted YSR Congress party and defeat its candidates in the elections through dubious means. As a part of the conspiracy, the ruling Congress party had deployed one third of its ministers as in-charges to Kadapa by-elections to induce voters and also bring undue influence on the official machinery, he alleged.

“Apart from these ministers – Dr D L Ravindra Reddy (Minister for Health), Mr Y S Vivekananda Reddy (Minister for Agriculture) and Mr. Ahmadulla (Minister for Minority Welfare), Ramachandra Rao has said the ruling party had also roped in the services of Mr. Sai Prathap (Central Minister) and Dr N Tulasi Reddy(Chairman of 20 Points Formula and holding cabinet rank) to misuse the official machinery totally.

He said that the deployment of the ministers in Kadapa for the election campaign was nothing but violation of model code of conduct and contrary to the guidelines issued by the election commission from time to time. It was nothing but directly interfering in the election process and also acting against the principles of democratic process, he said. He felt that the ministers were holding constitutional posts having privileges and expressed fear that their very presence in the election campaign was bound to influence the voters and the official machinery.

Mr. Ramachandar Rao has requested the CEO to take necessary steps to restrain the ministers to work as election in-charges and also take steps to conduct elections in a conducive atmosphere. He has urged the Election Commission to issue guidelines to the Government in the matter.

Mrs, Vasireddy Padma said that Minister, Mr Bosta Satanarayana’s announcement of Vanitha Cards would attract the violation of model code of conduct. She has reminded that Mr. Jagan has stopped his “Odarupu Yatra” immediately after the announcement of the election schedule by the Election Commission.

Mrs. Indira Priyadarshini said that the EC should direct the government to provide security to Mrs. Viajayamma, Mrs. Sharmila and Mrs. Bharathi who were participating in the election campaign without any security.(NSS)
