Hyderabad: The YSR Congress leader, Mr Jupudi Prabhakar alleged that the entire episode that took place on the floor of the Legislative Assembly today was a drama jointly enacted by the ruling Congress and the main opposition TDP. He made it clear that his party would implement its political strategy when no-confidence motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government comes up in the house.

Speaking at the Media Point in the premises of Legislative Assembly here, Mr Prabhakar said that the people of the entire state watched the drama of the Congress and the TDP in the Assembly. After the death of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the political uncertainty prevailed in the State. On the ground of moral values, the family members of YSR, Mrs Vijayamma and Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy resigned to their posts and re-elected to the legislative bodies in the by-elections.

“Responding to the challenge of Y S Jagan, the Opposition leader, Mr Nara Chnadrababu Naidu announced that his party would give notice of no-confidence motion against the state Government. But the TDP has given notice to the Secretary of the Legislature, at the time the speaker post was vacant and Deputy Speaker has also resigned to his post. The TDP was not serious in the matter of no-confidence motion”, he alleged.

The YSR Congress leader said instead of secret ballot as mentioned in the Bulletin supplied to the members, open ballot was adopted for election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Mr Naidu also spoke in a manner supporting the open ballot, he added.

He directly questioned Mr Naidu as to why the TDP has resorted to the step to prove whose strength. The TDP wants to give life to the Congress Government in the State. It is well known that the candidates fielded by the ruling Congress would definitely win. The election of Speaker was not important to the YSR Congress, which wants no- confidence motion against the State Government. We would show the “cinema” to the State Government when the no-confidence motion comes up in the Assembly. Out of 158 members strength of the Congress, 100 legislators were in favor of the YSR Congress. The YSR Congress would show its strength when no confidence motion comes up in the house, he made it clear.

He pointed out that the TDP members did not open their mouths until the Deputy Speaker left the house after announcing that the house was adjourned sine die, without taking up the matter of no-confidence motion. On the TDP members meeting the Governor, Mr ESL Narsimhan, he felt that the Assembly was the place to show the strengths, not the Raj Bhavan.

He alleged that the TDP has brought the election of Speaker onto the screen to save the Government from no-confidence motion.
