Hyderabad, Feb.6 (NSS): As promised by the Chief Minister Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, the State Government has issued G.Os releasing a total of around Rs.108.19 crore, bringing a sigh of relief to the lakhs of handloom workers in the State.
These funds were released towards loan waiver applicable to around 1.5 lakh families of handloom workers, 450 primary handloom cooperative societies which have taken artisans’ loans under PMRY and Rajiv Yuva Sakthi schemes as well as individual handloom workers who have taken loans from commercial banks.
As per the G.Os 351 to 353 issued today, a sum of around Rs.60.65 crore was released towards waiver of loans taken under District Central Cooperative Banks and primary cooperative societies; Rs.31.94 crore released towards waiver of old loans taken from the Government and Rs.16 crore towards loan waiver of individual loans taken from commercial banks.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had a review meeting on the problems of handloom weavers in the State in December last and took several decisions benefiting the handloom industry.(NSS)
