Misbah-ul-Haq once again led from the front as he powered the Pakistanis to a respectable 330 for seven declared in their tour match against Guyana in Georgetown.
The skipper hit an unbeaten 101 on day one of their two-day match, giving him some valuable time in the middle ahead of the opening Test against the West Indies starting on Thursday.
Openers Mohammad Hafeez (52) and Azhar Ali (57) got the visitors off to an excellent start with a 92-run opening partnership. However, they lost three quick wickets before Misbah dug in to put them back on track.
The 36-year-old was involved in a 69-run fourth-wicket stand with Umar Akmal (26) and shared in an unbeaten 89-run partnership with fast bowler Umar Gul (40 not out) before opting to declare.
Spinners Amir Khan (three for 88) and Zaheer Mohammad (two for 58) accounted for five of the seven Pakistani wickets that fell on the opening day.
Openers Trevor Griffith and Shemroy Barrington made sure there were no early flutters as the hosts closed on 25 without loss.
Guyana have included West Indies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul in their squad with the view of allowing him to spend some time in the middle ahead of the first Test. Crticket365
