ipThe match between the cricket rivals and neighbours is technically a dead rubber but fans in both countries and around the world will surely be excited about the match hoping the team they support wins.

As MS Dhoni and Misbah ul-Haq lead their teams to play the Champions Trophy match against their old rivals both captains will be well aware that they have nothing to lose.

India has firmly secured their place in the Champions League semi-final by winning their matches against South Africa and West Indies respectively. Pakistan on the other hand are out of the competition having lost both their matches against the same opponents.

Put in the group of death, India will be looking to win the match against Pakistan to take some momentum into the semi-finals after the IPL taint that has refused to leave the team. Pakistan on the other hand have been disappointing in the tournament so far and will be hoping to win this match to leave the tournament on a high.

Regardless of the other matches in the tournament all 22 players and the support staff of both teams know clearly well that an Indo-Pak cricket clash is much more than just cricket or progression in the tournament or a win. The cricket crazy nations and their diaspora some of who will be present to cheers their team at Edgbaston tomorrow and the million others will watching the clash on TV.

For Pakistan a win against India will reduce the disappointment fans feel because of their below-par performance in the tournament so far. For India, a win against Pakistan will help keep their successful run in the tournament going.

There is a lot to play for and both teams will surely do their best to rise to the occasion as the old rivalry reignites in the birthplace of cricket-England. Fans besides a win for their favourite team will also be praying that rain which has so far wreaked havoc in a number of matches doesn’t affect this clash.
