Deccan have nothing but pride to play for in their final group games in the 2011 Indian Premier League and their coach Darren Lehmann has urged them to “execute plans” when they take on the Pune Warriors.
The Chargers, the 2009 Champions, have had a disappointing 2011 campaign and are second from bottom in the standings after losing seven of their 10 games – three of them have come in their last three games.
The players have a chance to redeem themselves and end their losing streak when they take on the Pune Warriors at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
“We have to push the performance to win matches and execute plans,” Lehmann is quoted by the Press Trust of India. “We need to win every match hereafter.”
Lehmann though warns that the players will need to improve on their fielding if they want to beat the Warriors after they put in a horrible display against the Delhi Daredevils last time out.
“I don’t think it is anything to do with luck,” former Australian all-rounder Lehmann said.
“We had two opportunities to get Viru [Virender Sehwag]. Had we held those catches, we would have won. It is getting to a point that is costing us games.” said the coach. Cricket365
