Windies recall Sarwan

Posted by on May 2, 2011 0 Comment

The West Indies added Ramnaresh Sarwan and dropped Devon Smith from their 13-man squad for the fourth one-day international against Pakistan on Monday.

The absence of Sarwan, a veteran of 166 ODIs, in the first three ODIs had been questioned by fans in the Caribbean.

He, Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul were dropped after the World Cup after coach Ottis Gibson criticized the performance of senior batsmen on the subcontinent. Gayle then left to play in the IPL, while Chanderpaul is currently engaged in a verbal spat with West Indies officials.

The Windies batsmen have failed to cope with the spin element of Pakistan’s attack with the visitors claiming an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five match ODI series.

West Indies: Darren Sammy (captain), Dwayne Bravo, Carlton Baugh, Devendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Kirk Edwards, Anthony Martin, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons. Cricket365
