New Zealand elect to bat against Pakistan

Pallekele, March 8 (IANS) New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and elected to bat against Pakistan in a World Cup Group A match here Tuesday.

New Zealand made one change to the side, with all-rounder Jacob Oram coming in place of Jesse Ryder.

Pakistan made two changes, bringing in pacer Shoaib Akhtar and left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman for fast bowler Wahab Riaz and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.

Daniel Vettori (captain), Brendon McCullum (wicketkeeper), Marton Guptill, Jamie How, Ross Taylor, James Franklin, Scott Styris, Niall McCullum, Kyle Mills, Tim Southee, Jacob Oram.

Shahid Afridi (captain), Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal (wicketkeeper), Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Abdur Rehman, Umar Gul, Shoaib Akhtar.
