New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Five Bangladeshi men were arrested for allegedly carrying out a string of robberies in the capital, police said Thursday.
Jagdish, Safiqul, Mohd Karim, Kamrul and Alamgir were arrested from Anand Vihar Wednesday following a tip-off that they were planning to commit a crime in the area and equipment for house-breaking seized from them.
Police said 22 mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, the gang members revealed their involvement in four cases of robbery in Ashok Vihar, Mansarovar Park and Anand Vihar areas, police said.
“The gang is well-organised in terms of planning, logistics and transport required for committing crime and escape afterwards,” Deputy Commissioner of Police O.P. Mishra said.
“The entire operation used to be divided with specific responsibilities to other members. While two members would enter the house, one member would maintain watch outside,” he added.
Three members of the gang are still at large and efforts are on to apprehend them, Mishra said.
