Bank employee steals Rs 45.95 lakh, surrenders

Karimnagar: A woman employee of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH), accused of pilfering Rs 45.95 lakh in cash, surrendered before the Karimnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police on Thursday.

The woman, identified as D Srilatha, has been absconding after the pilferage of the money came to light.

Srilatha, a cashier, was entrusted with feeding the cash into the ATM adjoining the bank’s Vavilalapalli branch.

However, she started pilfering the money during the course of the last two months.

The theft came to light when the accounts were cross checked and the bank found itself short by Rs 45.95 lakh.

However, she went into hiding before she could be arrested, till Thursday when she surrendered. Police are probing the role of another employee of the bank who was assigned to feed the cash into the ATM along with Srilatha.(INN)
