Chandigarh, March 4 (IANS) Two men have been arrested in Chandigarh and over 4,700 pirated CDs and DVDs recovered from their possession in the second such haul in a week, said police.

According to police, the accused were identified as Sunil Gupta, a resident of neighbouring Mohali town, and Mohit, a resident of Sector 38 here.

“Working on a tip-off, we conducted raids at two shops in Sector 15 late Thursday and recovered around 4,725 pirated CDs and DVDs of latest movies and music albums,” said a police official here Friday.

“We have arrested two people and their interrogation is on. They have been booked for cheating and under various sections of the Copyright Act.”

This was the second major seizure of pirated CDs by Chandigarh police in the last seven days. They had Feb 27 arrested two people from Sector 17, the commercial hub of the union territory, and recovered nearly 5,000 pirated CDs and DVDs from them.
