New Delhi, March 13 (IANS) An argument with their son over buying a mobile phone and help to open a shop had tragic consequences for two sets of parents in the national capital. A woman was beaten to death and a couple was stabbed by their sons in two separate incidents in Delhi, police said Sunday.
In the first case, a 28-year-old man, furious after an argument with his mother over buying a mobile phone for her, beat her to death with an iron rod.
The incident took place in the Harsh Vihar area of north Delhi Saturday evening when Yusuf Ali attacked his 55-year-old mother Parveena Begum. Ali was arrested Sunday, said police.
“The household always remain tense as Ali used to frequently quarrel and fight with all his family members over petty issues as he had married against their wishes,” a police official said.
Parveena, who was attacked with an iron rod 30 times, suffered multiple injuries. She was taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man, said to be mentally unstable, stabbed his parents with a kitchen knife as they refused to help him to open a new shop.
The incident took place in Janakpuri area of west Delhi Saturday night. Rohit Kapoor has been detained while his parents, Ramesh Kapoor, 63 and Usha Kapoor, 59 are undergoing treatment in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. The mother’s condition is said to be critical.
“He had wanted to open a gift shop but his father had been asking him to wait. Last (Saturday)night they again discussed the matter and the mother objected. Angered by her reaction, Rohit attacked her and his father when he intervened,” a police official said.
