A young man created commotion before the DGP’s Office opposite Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday when he made a vain attempt to commit suicide.
Hailing fromRajahmundry, Vamsi Krishna, is stated to be an eye-witness in a murder case of Ramathapur. Protesting over the alleged harassment and torture by the police in connection with the case, he tried to commit suicide by dousing himself with kerosene in attempt to set himself ablaze. The police before the DGP’s Office and the passers by noticing his attempt immediately pounced on him and prevented him to take the extreme step. He tried to wriggle out of the police grip but was over powered while some poured water on him.
He was arrested by the Saifabad Police and shifted him to Nampally Police Station and made inquiries about his problem on instructions from the DGP who wanted the matter to be probed thoroughly. (NSS)
