New Delhi, March 7 (IANS) Three men involved in robbing goods vehicles on highways were arrested from east Delhi, police said Monday. Stolen goods worth Rs.50 lakh have been recovered.
Anwar Hussain, 23, Shanu, 22, and Mohd. Nazir, 25, all members of the “Anwar-Thakur” gang, were arrested Sunday near Anand Vihar inter-state bus terminus, police said.
Gang leader Aanwar Hussain was recently released on bail in a case of attempt to murder.
“Just after his release, Hussain re-organised his gang to target vehicles carrying goods,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Arun Kampani.
Police have recovered a tempo load of tea boxes, automobile spare parts, alloy wheels, tyres, carpets, fabric items and submersible pumps, he added.
On March 1, they robbed a tempo carrying tea boxes, police said.
