New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) Two people have been arrested for killing an elderly woman and robbing her house in north Delhi, police said Wednesday.

“Brijesh, 19, and Manoj Kumar, 20, both hailing from Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, were held from Rohini area in north Delhi Tuesday,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.

They killed Daya Kaur, 64, in Prashant Vihar area Feb 28, police said.

Police received a phone call March 13 that blood was seen flowing out from under the door of a locked house.

“We found the decomposed body of Daya Kaur whose hands and legs were tied with clothes,” said Sharma.

During investigation, police found that the mobile phone, silver ornaments and some documents of the deceased were missing from the house.

“The call details revealed that the mobile phone of Kaur was being used by Brijesh and Manoj Kumar, following which raids were conducted in Uttar Pradesh,” said Sharma, adding that they were later traced to a place in Rohini and arrested.

During interrogation, both the accused told police that during the robbery at Kaur’s house Feb 28, they strangled her along with their associate Nandu of Mahoba.

“They gained access in her house through the rooftop, overpowered her and killed her,” said Sharma.
