Hyderabad: Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Thursday arrested two passengers bound for Bangkok and seized about 2,50,000 Dollars from them.

According to sources, the $2.5 lakh were found in the passengers’ luggage during routine checking.

The value of the currency is well over Rs one crore.

The police took the two passengers into custody as they could not give satisfactory answers about the origins of the money.

The two passengers have been handed over to the police who are investigating if the two passengers violated any provisions of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act or if the money is part of a larger laundering racket.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under the Customs Act 1962. (INN)
