Chennai, March 27 (IANS) Tamil Nadu’s main opposition party AIADMK Sunday added more star power to its combine with actor Vijay’s fan club deciding to support it for the April 13 assembly elections.
Vijay’s father and movie director S.A.Chandrasekhar met AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa at Tiruchirappalli Sunday and offered support of the Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay Makkal Iyyakam – the actor’s fan club – to the party.
Speaking to reporters later, Chandrasekhar said whether Vijay would campaign is yet to be decided but his support for the AIADMK front will be there.
According to him, the movement has members in the age group 20-30.
He said the decision to support the AIADMK was taken to usher in a change of regime in the state.
Recently Vijay held a protest in Nagapattinam against the killing of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The other heroes in the AIADMK front are actor-turned-politicians Vijayakant, founder of the DMDK, and Sarathkumar, founder of the SMK.
