Title of Neha Dhupia starrer multilingual Indian film Dear friend Hitler has been changed. It’s now called Gandhi to Hitler. The film is based on letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to the leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler.
Neha Dhupia who plays Eva Braun in DFH revealed that the title has been changed to Gandhi To Hitler. “The title of our next release has been changed from Dear friend Hitler to Gandhi to Hitler.” She also informed that for the international version the title remains the same.
When asked the reason for changing the title she said, “From what I was told the controversial word in the previous title was ‘friend’. That’s why the change.”
It can be recalled that the film’s subject caused some controversies when its promo was screened at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
The film has been directed by first time director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Kumar Sharma. It can be recalled that before Raghubir Yadav, Anupam Kher had agreed to play the role of Hitler, but opted out after Jewish organisations in India condemned him for playing the part of the ruthless ruler who had massacred millions of Jews.
