I grew up with Salman: Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar has worked with Aamir Khan (in the tentatively titled Dhuan and 2001’s Dil Chahta Hai).

He has also worked with Shah Rukh Khan (on Don and Don 2). However, the multi-talented actor-director-producer is yet to do a film with Salman Khan for his production house yet. Is this because of their respective fathers’ one time partnership that turned sour?

The trade is keen on a film with Farhan and Salman Khan. And it’s not as if Farhan hasn’t tried. “I have approached Salman on two occasions with scripts over the last few years…something that he would be really good for. But he had his own plans (laughs)… fair enough. I have absolutely no problem collaborating with him. My banner has approached him previously and will keep approaching him. After that, it is his decision if he wants to do a film with us or not.”

Commenting on their equation, he says, “We are not great friends but I grew up with Salman. He taught me cycling and swimming. In fact, Sohail, Alvira, Arbaaz, Zoya and I are very close. We party a lot. Salman is not around that much because he very busy.” Farhan adds that the differences between their fathers was never a problem. “It was good of them not to involve us kids in their issues and differences. It never filtered down to us,” he concludes. TOI
