New age cinema hasn’t arrived in India: Ameesha Patel

She may be an out of league actor by now, having only a Gadar and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai to her repute. And the Yashrajs and the Dharma productions no longer knock at her door, but Ameesha Patel, has found a way of salvaging her reputation by featuring in her own films. Ameesha’s production house will start rolling pretty soon, and the actor has already signed directors David Dhawan and Priyadarshini.

After mining a blink and miss comic role in Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Ameesha Patel is ready to make a comeback in Chatur Singh 2 star alongside Sanjay Dutt. Though the film has already been panned for its Pink Panther look, Ameesha contests that the rumours are baseless. ” The movie is inspired by a detective story and has nothing to do with Pink Panther. I get caught up in a crime and Sanjay is out to prove my innocence and Sanju is a terrific performer,” she says.

Comedy hasn’t been one of her best strengths, but after the success of Ready and Singham Ameesha feels the comic caper will go down well with the audience. “Look at Dabangg, Wanted they were out and out paisa-vasool and that’s what the audience wanted. New age cinema still hasn’t arrived in India, the audience still wants family entertainers,” she signs off. TOI
