This Friday the 13th scary movie Ragini MMS will hit the screens. Alt Entertainment and iRock’s keenly awaited horror movie premiers tonight.
Ekta Kapoor’s film is part fact-part fiction. The film has been in news for its controversial and unconventional theme and content. It is the first film from B-Town to be shot entirely using a 24-camera set-up, and has garnered more than 73,000 fans on its official interactive Facebook page and is trending on Twitter in Mumbai, which points to the film having connected with the youth.
The Hindi and Telugu versions of the film were shot together. It was made at a tight cost of 1.3 cr. Given the hype around the film, the makers are looking at recovering their cost quickly. The revenues of home video and satellite rights from the Hindi and Telugu are expected to add to the producers’ booty. With Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Taaryanche Bait (Marathi) and Shor In The City, brand Alt exemplifies the “tight budget-smart marketing-tidy profit” philosophy that has been eluding some of the bigger films. With Friday the 13th seeming lucky for this mms, we wonder if Part 2 is en route? TOI
