Mumbai, February 12: (IANS) Veteran actor Farooque Sheikh, known for films like “Chashme Buddoor” and “Umrao Jaan”, says today’s young actors come well prepared and have a whole lot of choice in movies, unlike the situation in the past.
“A lot of newcomers have joined the industry and they are extremely talented. The reason is that they have a lot more exposure than we ever had. I remember when I came into the industry in 1973, there used to be TV which used to run between just 6 p.m.-10 p.m., and just three or four well-known actors.
“Now there are dozens of channels and hundreds of films… so the preparation and understanding of young actors is much more… they come with a lot of ability,” said Farooque.
The 62-year-old, last seen in “Lahore”, is all praise for debutant Ranveer Singh of “Band Baaja Baaraat” fame, and feels that Ranbir Kapoor is extremely versatile.
