The special dress worn by Kate Middleton during a charity fashion show in 2002 and which caught the attention of Prince Williams, has now been sold for £78,000.
The see-through dress was sold in a bid at the auction held in central London. An anonymous person on the behalf of an individual named ‘Nick from Jersey’ bought the dress at the back of the sales room.
The bidder who looked to be in his 30’s said about the buyer:
‘He thinks it’s an iconic piece and is very happy with the purchase.’
Auctioneer Kerry Taylor further told:
‘I am quite astonished by the amount of interest from all over the world, from Korea to Japan to America.
‘Literally, there’s global interest in the dress and that reflects the interest in Kate Middleton.’
‘I feel quite sorry for her – if you’re getting this kind of response to a dress that she wore for 10 minutes all those years ago, it’s quite extraordinary.
‘But we’ve not had Prince William on the phone yet. I’m very disappointed,’
She valued the dress at £8,000 – £10,000 and when the price reached around £50,000,she was more than happy. Agencies
