Hyderabad: The police have arrested two more persons – Abdullah Bin Younus Al-Yafae and Amer – in connection with the attack on MIM floor leader in the Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi on April 30.

Of the total 15 accused, the police have so far arrested 13 and one accused, Ibrahim had died during the attack and the other Awad, who suffered injury, is currently undergoing treatment in Yashoda Hospital.

Abdullah and Awad, nephews of prime accused Mohammed Pahelwan, have been shot by Mohammed Jani, the personal security officer of MIM MLA Ahmed Balala who was accompanying Akbaruddin on that fateful day. Abdullah was picked up by police as he was discharged from the hospital while Amer, who was absconding, taken into custody from his home.

Meanwhile, Chandrayangutta sub-inspector A Ramulu, who was heading the team of policemen escorting Akbaruddin on April 30, had been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty. Ramulu was seen talking on the wireless when Akbaruddin was attacked. City police Commissioner A K Khan had ordered an inquiry into conduct of the police team soon after the incident.

Vineet Brijlal, DCP, South Zone, who carried out the inquiry found Ramulu wanting in action at a critical juncture.

Earlier, the commissioner had transferred Chandrayangutta inspector P Venkatgiri, who is now working with the Central Crime Station that is investigating the Akbaruddin attack case. TOI
