Hyderabad: After the recent blasts in Mumbai, the police are leaving nothing to chance to ensure that the annual Bonalu festival, being held on Sunday at the Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad, passes off smoothly. Around 2,000 security personnel, 200 women police, 26 CCTV’s, a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad will ensure the safety of the public on Sunday and the Mahankali police station is on high alert.

The DCP North Zone, Mr Srikanth, said, “We have given the temple a lot of security and will be keeping a close watch on everyone. Traffic also has been diverted so that motorists are not troubled.” “There will be traffic restrictions on RP Road and M.G Road. Vehicles won’t be allowed from Patny crossroads to Ghasmandi crossroads from morning to evening. There will be traffic restrictions on the Karbala Maidan-RP Road too. The restrictions will be in place on Sunday and Monday. Everything depends on the pedestrians. If there are less people on the road, traffic will be allowed,” said DCP, traffic, Mr G.V.G Ashok Kumar.
