The Mirchowk traffic inspector on Thursday challaned his boss, the Charminar Traffic ACP, Mr T. Pullinder Reddy, for parking in a no-parking zone at Nayapul.
The ACP paid the challan amount of Rs 200 but also allegedly tore it off and threw it in an insulting manner.
The issue drew wide attention as the traffic police started a special drive offending targeting police officers’ vehicles.
The traffic cops found Mr Pullinder Reddy’s vehicle parked in the wrong side of the road at Nayapul and promptly issued a challan.
However, the Mirchowk traffic inspector, Mr Shaik Meera Shareef, said the ACP was not present in the vehicle.
“Mr Siddique, a home guard, took the challan and tore it off. The ACP after coming to know of it paid the challan amount and warned the home guard,” he said.
A vehicle belonging to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was also challaned for entering the no-entry zone, said the inspector.
When asked about the row, the additional commissioner, traffic, Mr C.V. Anand, said, “I haven’t heard of it. Anyway nobody is above the rule. In the special drive targeting police officers and government vehicles, we have issued 300 challans to both private as well as the government vehicles
which are used by police officers.” Deccan Chronicle
