Hyderabad: Suspended leader of the Telugu Desam Party from Telangana Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Sunday challenged the TDP Telangana Forum members to stage dharna in front of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Hyderabad and demand a clear statement on the separate statehood issue, instead of them agitating in New Delhi
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Janardhan Reddy said the Forum members, instead of going to New Delhi for staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar on August 11 and 12, can stage the same dharna at the party chief’s residence and press for clear stand on the bifurcation of state issue instead of Mr Naidu’s ambivalent attitude.
The MLA added that the TDP and Congress parties have to make their stand clear on the bifurcation of the state and thus prove their commitment.
He also appealed to political parties to make concerted efforts and launch a vigorous campaign for stopping of suicides by the people and students on the statehood issue.
Stating that the state cannot be achieved with suicides, Mr Janardhan Reddy said the permanent solution for statehood problem can be found only through intensified agitation and resignation of elected representatives.
Finding fault with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s statement that unanimity among parties is needed for finding a solution to the vexed issue, the senior leader said it was not possible to achieve consensus on such serious and sensitive issues.
Slamming the Seemandhra leaders’ statements in Parliament, Mr Janardhan Reddy challenged them to convene meetings in Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Mahabubnagar districts. (INN)
