Hyderabad: In an unexplained incident, the 11-year-old son of a DRDL scientist who was kidnapped on Friday was found dead on Monday.

The police had only registered a ‘person missing’ case when Ch Pranav’s father, Mr Ch Rammohan, had approached them on Friday, after getting a call from an unidentified person. The body of Pranav was found in a gunny bag in a drain beside the Gudimalkapur market on Monday.

The boy had been smothered to death and the body bore no external injuries.

Mr Ch Rammohan works on the Agni missile project. Police said they had no evidence that the kidnap-murder was linked to classified information on the missile programme. However, sleuths of the Intelligence Bureau have joined the investigation in view of the sensitive nature of Mr Rammohan’s job.

According to the police, Pranav had received a phone call at 12.15 pm on Friday, following which he left the house.

Only his sister was at home at that time. When a neighbour who was standing in front of their house asked him, Pranav said he was expecting a friend. “I don’t know the address. I am expecting a friend to take me out,” Pranav told the neighbour. Deccan Chronicle
