Akbaruddin Owaisi had no gunmen: A. K. Khan

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, Mr A K Khan, has said that the MIM MLA, Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, had no gunmen at the time of the attack on him. He said though the police offered to provide him gunmen, he had rejected the offer.

Talking to the media while producing the alleged attackers of the MLA before the media, Mr Khan said that another MIM MLA, Mr Balala, and a party corporator were with Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi at the time of the attack. He said that police have filed cases against the accused under seven penal sections. He said that it was not a complex case and police would unravel it soon. The Commissioner has said seven more suspects were arrested in connection with the attack on the MLA. He has disclosed that a Special Investigation Team has been set up under the DCP, Mr Satyanarayana, which would continue the investigation.

Stating that Mohammed Pahelwan was the main accused in the case, the Commissioner has said that he has directed the ACP to submit his report soon.

On the MLA’s health condition, Mr Khan said it was improving. He said doctors have removed the ventilator.

Replying to questions, Mr Khan said land disputes could be the reason for the attack on Mr Owaysi. He said there could be other disputes also. He has promised to get back before the media with full details in two to three days. (NSS)
