Hyderabad: As part of their promise, 34 members of Telugu Desam Telangana Forum on Monday submitted their resignations to Deputy Speaker Mallu Batti Vikramarka in his chambers on the Assembly premises. Four rebel MLAs of the party had already submitted their resignations on Sunday.
After submitting their resignations to the Deputy Speaker, Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao stated that 32 members submitted their resignations in the established format and appealed to Deputy Speaker to accept their resignations.
He said that two forum members, Revanth Reddy and G Venkata Veeraiah, have sent their resignations to the Speaker’s office through fax.
Three out of the 7 MLCs of the party have also resigned.
Describing their resignations as people’s victory, Mr Dayakar Rao said that the Telangana state can be achieved only through resignations and by creating a Constitutional crisis.
He added that the Forum members are determined to intensify their agitation for Telangana until the Centre fulfils the aspirations of the region’s people.
Mr Dayakar Rao pointed out that party MPs from Telangana Nama Nageswara Rao, Ramesh Rathod and Rajya Sabha Member Gundu Sudharani would submit their resignations to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari anytime before Tuesday evening.
The TDP Telangana Forum members had earlier announced that they would submit their resignations after Telangana Congress members had handed in their papers. However, the TDP Forum members submitted their resignations ahead of Congress MLAs as they did not turn up at the announced time of 11 AM.
Before they handed in their resignations, the TDP Legislators made their way to the Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park and paid tributes to those who laid down their lives for the cause of separate statehood.(INN)
