Hyderabad: Students from Andhra Pradesh did the state proud, coming out with flying colours in the prestigious 10th All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) which were conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
The results were announced on Sunday at 1 PM.
From the state, Varun Tej secured 5th rank in the examination while Prithvi Raj secured the 7th rank, followed by Bhargav Reddy who was placed 8th and Surender Reddy 12th.
This year, 10,53,832 candidates of the 11,14,880 registered candidates appeared for AIEEE – 2011 and 1.10 lakh students appeared from Andhra Pradesh.
The candidates are advised to see their all India and State rank on CBSE website i.e., www.cbse.nic.in or www.aieee.nic.in.
Score cards will be dispatched to candidates from June 13.
This year the candidates from the General category, OBC category, SC/ST category and Physically Handicapped candidates of all categories who obtained 48 marks, 45 marks, 18 marks and 18 marks respectively were declared eligible to fill in their choices for online counseling for BE/B Tech and B Arch/B Planning.
The online counseling will be conducted by Central Counseling Board – 2011.
Approximately 26,816 seats for B E/B Tech and 936 seats for B Arch/B Planning in various institutions namely National Institutes of Technology, IIITs, Deemed Universities, Technical Institutions, Delhi Technological University and other government funded institutions will be filled.
Earlier, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a fresh common entrance for all students citing the leakage of question paper in a select few centres for a few thousand students.
After the Apex Court gave the green signal, the CBSE officials announced the results.(INN)
