Hyderabad: The 15th general body meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) will be held on March 12 and 13 at NGOs’ Home in Srikakulam.
The renowned Human Rights activist, Prof. Hara Gopal, today released the pamphlet related to the meeting at a media conference in NSS.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed that they have decided to hold the meeting in Srikakulam district symbolically opposing the destructive development and to raise right of the people for protection of the environment and human rights. The main aim of the meeting was to educate the people to fight for protection of their livelihood and removal of regional disparities in development.
He alleged that the Indian businessmen and politicians were cooperating with the multinational companies “to loot the natural wealth and resources” of the country.
On March 12 at 10.30 am, Prof. Amit Battacharya will deliver key-note address on “Destructive Development— Democratic Rights”. Prof. Chakraphani of Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, will deliver a lecture on “Development—Regional Disparities in the State” at 11.30 am. A public meeting would be conducted at 5 pm.
On March 13, there would be a general body meeting of the APCLC. The former president of APCLC, Ms Ratnamala, and others were also present. (NSS)
