Hyderabad: Bus commuters will have to dig deeper into their pockets to reach their destinations from July 16 onwards after the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) announced an increase in fares.
APSRTC Managing Director Prasad Rao told media persons here that while passengers buying daily tickets will have to pay more, students bus passes have not been touched. However, the general bus pass rates have gone up by a whopping Rs 50.
Mr Prasad Rao, justifying the recent hike in diesel prices for the fare hike, said that there will be no changes in the minimum fare of Pallevelugu, Express, Deluxe, Super Luxury and Garuda but an increase in fares upwards of 20 KM of travel in Pallevelugu buses.
Fares up to 10 KM in all types of city services remains unchanged, besides no change in the fares of Sheethal AC buses in the city.
Pallevelugu fares have been increased from 46 paisa to 50 paisa after the initial 20 KM, meaning a 4 paisa increase per KM.
The Express services’ fares have been increased from 54 paisa to 62 paisa (8 paisa per KM). Deluxe services fares have been increased from 60 paisa to 70 paisa (10 paisa per KM). Super Luxury fares are up by 70 paisa to 82 paisa (12 paisa per KM).
Garuda services fares have been hiked from 125 paisa to 140 paisa (15 paisa per KM). Ghat services fares are hiked from 108 paisa per KM to 124 (16 paisa per KM). He said fares of the city ordinary, Metro Express, Metro Deluxe, Mofussil Services are increased only after 10 km.(INN)
