AICC in charge of state affairs Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has reiterated that the Telangana issue could be sorted out only through arriving at a consensus. He said no solution would be possible unless the state Assembly passed a unanimous resolution on the issue.

Speaking to the media, the minister who came here to participate in a conference of health ministers, said that small states were created only when the Assemblies of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh had passed unanimous resolutions.

Stating that the government hoped that the Sri Krishna Committee would show a specific solution to the problem, he said they had instead shown six different solutions. Now the Telangana process should once again begin at the beginning, he has remarked.

The minister said that sentiments were very strong both in the Telangana and Seemandhra regions. He has however maintained that decisions could not be taken on the basis of sentiments. He has made it clear that not a step could be taken forward with out a resolution from the Assembly. He said there was also the need to take the opinions of other parties into account on the Telangana issue.
