Hyderabad: Telangana Auto Drivers JAC has strongly condemned yet another steep hike in the price of petrol, for the third time within five months, since the existing auto fares were fixed at minimum fare of Rs.14 and Rs. eight per kilometer.
In a statement to the press here today, committee chairman Mr Mohd. Amanullah Khan has demanded the State Government to suspend the on-going auto meter recalibration process at Rs.14 minimum and Rs. eight per km rate, and to hike the auto charges to Rs.20 minimum and Rs.10 per kilometer and recalibrate the meters accordingly.
He took the State Government to task for taking undue advantage of the petrol price hikes and said that instead of reducing the highest rate of sales tax on petrol in the country, the State Government was exploiting the situation, resulting in further rise in the prices of essential commodities.
