New Delhi: The Union Minister and State Congress in charge, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, has made it clear that a decision on Telangana would be taken only after completion of the ongoing discussions. He said wide-based discussions were essential to resolve the issue.

Mr Azad called on the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday and explained the situation prevailing in Andhra Pradesh to him. They have discussed the matter in detail.

Talking to the media later, Mr Azad said that the Congress MPs and ministers have asked him to start the discussions on the Telangana issue. He said he had held discussions with the MLAs and ministers for two hours in the morning.

Stating that the Telangana issue was complex, he however expressed confidence that it could be resolved through dialogue. He said the government would start the dialogue process. He said that an all-party meeting might not be possible to be called immediately.
