Hyderabad: The row over separate statehood for Telangana may soon end as the Congress central leadership is keen to take a decision on the issue at the earliest. Sources said the Union health minister and party general secretary in-charge of AP, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, called on the Congress chief, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday and sought to impress on her the need to decide the Telangana issue at the earliest. He also submitted a report in connection with it, sources said.
According to sources, the report favours a decision on the Telangana issue at the earliest so that any negative repercussions can be handled with ease. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who reached New Delhi in the evening, said he would abide by whatever decision the high command takes on the Telangana issue. The report also points out that if the Congress dithers now and keeps on procrastinating, it could land in trouble at the time of elections in 2014, sources said. Sources added that a few legislators might quit the party depending on the decision taken on the Telangana issue. Deccan Chronicle
