Bandaru Dattatreya demands scrapping of APIIC

Hyderabad: Alleging that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has become a pocket organisation of some of the ruling Congress leaders, the BJP senior leader and former Union Minister Mr Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded the Government to release a ‘white paper’ on the land transactions of the Corporation and scrapping of the Corporation.

Addressing a media meet here along with party vice-President Mr S Malla Reddy here Tuesday, Mr Dattatreya wanted Government to come out with details relating to the lands acquired by the Corporation from farmers including the lands under irrigation, the lands allotted to industrial units, the number of units actually started on the lands allotted, the employment potential created by the units, and the units not yet started by those who were allotted lands.

He alleged that the APIIC which was supposed to protect the interests of the State, was acting as a broker of a section of the Congress leaders and protecting their interests. He recalled in this connection the number of allegations made on the irregularities committed by the Corporation in the Legislature, and added that many doubts arose as the Chief Minister failed to announce the house Committee to go into the land allotments, as assured in the Legislative Assembly more than a month ago. He said the Chief Minister was against the House committee, as he was scared that the scams of APIIC would come to the fore.

The BJP leader referred to the recent allotments made to 13 industrial organiations recently in Greater Hyderabad limits, and said that lands worth hundreds of crores of rupees in Nadergul and Gajularamaram villages were given away to big industrial houses, which would negate the formation of Greater Hyderabad. He asked wanted the Chief Minister how the lands were allotted to big industrialists when lands were not allotted to Indiramma and Rajiv Swagruha schemes meant to provide housing to the poor. He alleged that the Chief Minister Mr Kiran kumar Reddy was hand in glove with the forces behind these land transactions.(NSS)
